When you are buying your teenager’s first car, you are not going to want to spend a lot of money on it. This is not going to be the car they have for the rest of their life and because the first few years of driving are actually training for any young driver, you do not want to risk a very expensive car being destroyed. No matter how sensible your child is when they are driving, accidents will always happen and these accidents occur more with young drivers.
You are going to want to find a car that is going to last and be safe for your teen to drive; however, you are not going to want to be too extravagant. So here are some of the best
first cars you can buy.
Ford Ka
This is a very popular choice for a first car because it does not cost too much to run and it is reliable. A decent used Ford Ka is not too expensive and can generally be found within the £1000 to £2000 price range; however, they can be found cheaper. You just need to shop around.
Vauxhall Corsa
The Vauxhall Corsa is another fantastic choice for a first car. It is a decent sized car that does not cost too much; you will generally find a 10 year old Corsa to be within the £1000 to £2000 price range, like the Ka. You will be able to find Corsa’s cheaper than £1000, but they will probably be older than 10 years old and have a lot of miles.
Ford Fiesta
The Fiesta provides plenty of room for the driver and any passengers. It is also a fun little car to drive. This would be a good choice for your teen’s first car because it is extremely reliable and efficient. You can find a fiesta within the same price range as the Ka and the Corsa and potentially even cheaper if you look at earlier models.
Renault Clio
This is a stylish little car that is fairly cheap to run. This car, like the others listed above, can also be found within the £1000 to £2000 price range. Again, it can be found cheaper if you are looking at older models.
Volkswagen Golf
This is a great choice for a first car because it is reliable and spacious. You will be looking at a cost of around £1000 to £2000; obviously this depends on what model you are looking for,
like all cars listed above.
Of course you can spend a little more on a first car for your teenager, but if you are on a budget or you just do not want to spend much on a first car, then there are plenty of options for you within the £1000 to £2000 price range. The cars listed above are reliable and fairly cheap to run; your teenager will be happy with any of these cars!
