If you’ve been driving the same car for years and it’s now finally time to upgrade to a newer vehicle, you can look forward to also finally being able to enjoy some of the newest technological advancements that have hit the automotive market in recent years. Older vehicles from a few years ago didn’t even come close in comparison to the new cars that have hit the market not only in style but also in the technology that now makes driving even more fun and easy.
Voice Commands
Voice commands, also known as voice recognition, has been around for quite a while now, but again, if you’re used to driving cars without it, you’ll need to get used to having this perk. It won’t take you long, though, before you begin taking advantage of its features. Though this system is fun to use, it’s meant to be a safety feature because it allows you to keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel while commanding the car to do what you want it to do for you.
If you want to raise or lower the temperature in the vehicle, for example, you can use a voice command to control the air conditioner or heater. You can even tell the car to play a specific song on the radio. But probably the greatest advantage of having a voice recognition system in your car is the ability to talk hands-free on your mobile phone.
Commands are sent to the car after pressing a single button on your steering wheel. It’s as simple, fast, and easy as that.
Blind Spot Detection System
A blind spot detection system does exactly what the name implies: detects cars and other vehicles, such as motorcycles, that are driving in your blind spots while on the highway or any multi-lane road. If you want to be sure that every time you merge from one lane to the other there aren’t any vehicles in your way, the blind spot detection system will assure you that the road is clear and it’s safe to proceed. If you hear a loud warning sound, however, when you attempt to move over to another lane, the car is letting you know that there’s someone driving in your blind spot that is not visible to you.
As you can imagine, this is one safety feature that more manufacturers are using in order to keep people safer on the road. If you have trouble merging or you are always nervous on the highway, this system could bring you some confidence.
Adaptive Cruise Control
If you love your regular cruise control, you will enjoy adaptive cruise control even more. This intelligent system is able to drive at varying speeds, depending upon how fast the person in the car in front of you is driving. This allows you to set your speed and then if the car in front of you slows down, the car does the work without you needing to even hit the brake.
