The Most Expensive Cars in the World and Who Owns Them
Cars seem to be one of the most timeless measures of a person’s success, so naturally celebrities need to show off how much money they’re making by buying some flashy cars. A hundred thousand dollars might seem like a reasonably high amount for a car but for some of these vehicles that amount of money might not even cover the tyres! Let’s take a look at which celebs own some of the most expensive cars around, including Mercedes’, Porsches, and Rolls-Royces – prepare to be shocked at how costly some of these automobiles are!
Rolls-Royce Ghost
The cheapest on this list, only costing around $400,000 (USD), is owned and customised by David Beckham. Peanuts, right? It makes the list as the Ferrari Enzo which Nicholas Cage used to own has now been sold. Becks previously owned a heavily (and expensively) customised Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead but decided to cash it in this year for a shiny new one. Who knows if he’ll take it with him when he leaves the USA?
Mercedes SLR Mclaren
Just ahead of Becks is the SLR Mclaren costing a bit less than $450K, and belonging to comedian and famous talk show host Jay Leno. Mercedes doesn’t make anything but class, and this particular car is obviously no exception. It’s one of a couple of cars that Leno owns, all living in his almost 1600 square metre garage.
Porsche 959
This particular Porsche is worth over $700K and is one of almost 50 cars owned by Jerry Seinfeld. He’s actually a massive car collector and has been for quite some time, with a specific penchant for Porsches. His collection includes multiple 911s, Boxsters, and the 1995 Porsche 550 Spyder. The 959 is just barely street legal, so you probably won’t see Seinfeld driving it around the streets – rather, he’ll be spending a lot of time in his hangar in Santa Monica Airport.
Bugatti Veyron
The fastest street-legal car in the world costs close to $2 million and is owned by rapper Birdman. The car can reach a top speed of 408 km/h thanks to the quad-turbocharged W16 engine. Simon Cowell also owns a similar but slightly cheaper version of the car.
Maybach Exelero
Last but certainly not least, this is the most expensive car in the world and by quite a long shot. The Maybach Exelero costs around $8 million and is a one-off car. It’s probably most known for being featured in Jay Z’s video clip for “Lost One”, and Birdman reportedly tried to purchase the car but has struggled to find the money to pay for it. It can reach 60 km/h in just 4.4 seconds with a twin turbo V12 engine.
Jeremy Lucas runs his own boutique bar but is also a part time media lecturer to help pay for his car finance. He plays in a competitive basketball competition, though admits his shooting isn’t the best.
