The one item on your ATV that will need to be replaced on a regular basis is the tires. If you have looked at the selection available to you, your head has probably begun to spin. Here are four sets of rubber that may be of interest to you.
STI Black Diamond
STI has been growing within the ATV tire niche. The Black Diamond features a stepped tread and broken V-pattern that is designed to tackle even the toughest terrain while providing as comfortable ride as possible. These tires offer quite a bit of tread in the center to help through deep mud, as well. The tread pattern is spread over the entire surface of the tire so that they can grip from many angles. These tires are a solid fit for your ATV and UTV. One possible downside is that there is a feeloing of having too much grip while cornering.
Maxxis Bighorn
Maxxis is one of the oldest ATV tire companies still producing and their Bighorn is their most consistent products. Many race winning ATVs and UTVs have been shod with the Bighorn. The
tires are well covered with tread pattern, allowing for consistent forward traction no matter the terrain that you are covering. You will be hard pressed to find anything negative to say about this tire.
ITP Blackwater Evolution
The ITP Blackwater Evolution was born out of a need from the UTV group. The eight-ply Evolution is designed to take anything short of a landmine without puncturing and still has a few features that can appeal to the ATV crowd. It can take anything from a rocky trail t soft sand without complaint. The eight-ply construction makes the ride a bit stiff by nature. Having been designed for heavier vehicles, the Evolution is best suited for side-by-sides.
GBC Dirt Devil
The Dirt Devil is exactly what it claims to be: a great tire for loose surfaces like dirt, sand, or light mud.
The tread is a somewhat standard broken V, but ITP adds a dimpling(stepped lugs) to increase its performance in the loose stuff. On the downside, this is a very heavy tire compared to its competitors.
If you are looking for a tire that can handle just about anything you will run into, the Maxxis Bighorn is probably your best bet. Its versatility makes it a near perfect tire for the casual and adventurous riders out there.
